Year of the Tiger 2022

Year of the Tiger 2022

On the 1st of February this year, it will be Chinese New Year, the Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year, it is the festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar.

This year 2022 is the Year of the Tiger, it is known to be the king of all beasts in China.

There are also lucky colours to look out for if you’re born in the year of the Tiger. There is Cerulean blue, hot red, mint green and imperial yellow, which are the lucky colours for 2022. These colours are taken from the four elements of Feng Shui — wood (primary element of the tiger), water (element of the year 2022), fire, earth and the Yang properties.

To celebrate this occasion you will see vibrant red lanterns and colorful lights, these are the major symbols of the Chinese New Year.

Red Envelopes with money will be handed out to the younger members of the family by the seniors. The money is wrapped in red packets to bring them luck and prosperity.

Dumplings, a staple of Chinese cuisine, are associated with wealth, according to tradition and noodles are a very important part in the New Year celebrations. Noodles symbolize longevity, they should be uncut and the longer, the better.
